Ken is currently the Joint Venture National Coordinator for the USFWS and has 15 years of experience working on waterbird and wetland conservation issues in the Western Hemisphere. He previously worked as a Wildlife Biologist for the USFWS with the North American Wetlands Conservation Act, as a Regional Biologist for the Latin America and Caribbean Program at Ducks Unlimited, Inc., and various field and teaching positions. He started his wildlife career as a Biologist at the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium in Tacoma, WA. Ken received a BS in Biology from Pacific Lutheran University, an MS in Wildlife Conservation from the University of Minnesota, and a PhD in Ecology from the University of California, Davis. His Masters work explored issues related to treaties and access to natural resources by Native America tribes, while his doctorate focused on the breeding ecology and conservation of the Orinoco Goose in the Venezuelan Llanos. Ken continues to work on wetland conservation issues throughout North America and other conservation efforts in Latin America and the Caribbean. Other interests include competitive rowing, biking, remodeling his DC rowhouse, and spending time outdoors with his dogs.
