Dominated by massive volcanoes of the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” the Aleutian Mountain Range forms the spine of refuge lands which extend from the rocky Pacific shores to lakes and marshes of the Bristol Bay coastal plain. Encompassing almost five million acres, these wildlife refuges lie 300 to 500 miles southwest of Anchorage.
