Look close, as the sun sets over Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, two bald eagles perch in a tree high above. Blackwater is also home to the endangered Delmarva fox squirrel, a large handsome steel-gray squirrel.

The Ozark cavefish is found in small cave streams with pool areas. The water source is almost always an upwelling from the groundwater table. Suitable caves are usually found in the vicinity of large permanent streams.
